Swan RSS Tester -- Overview
- Swan RSS Tester (Latest Version) is a specialized RSS Reader, similar to a small specialized web browser. It is still under development.
- From http://www.xml.com: "RSS is a format for syndicating news and the content of news-like sites, including major news sites like Wired, news-oriented community sites like Slashdot, and personal weblogs. But it's not just for news. Pretty much anything that can be broken down into discrete items can be syndicated via RSS: the "recent changes" page of a wiki, a changelog of CVS checkins, even the revision history of a book. Once information about each item is in RSS format, an RSS-aware program can check the feed for changes and react to the changes in an appropriate way." --by Mark Pilgrim, December 18, 2002

- Swan RSS Tester will read most RSS feeds. It is not intended to be used solely as an RSS Reader - there are many RSS Readers available on the web. It's particular usefulness in the ability to display lists of images as a slide show in either a windowed or full screen mode. It will also show different slide shows on multiple monitors. To display an RSS feed, simply paste in the RSS feed address in the URL text area and press "return". There is a list for saved bookmarks. Click on an item will also display the RSS feed.
- If the feed has enclosures of images, you can show them as a simple slideshow in a separate window. Select "Test Window" to view in a separate window. Choosing "Fullscreen" from the window menu will cause the test window(s) to go into full screen mode. One window for each monitor. Also, double clicking on the window or pressing "esc" will change the display from window mode to fullscreen mode to hidden mode. To get back to the window, reselect "Test Window" from the Window menu
